Em's Room - My daughter was away one weekend and while she was gone I painted and sweetened up her room a bit. This was a low budget re-do using most things she aleady had. The room looks and feels better and Em's very happy with it.
BEFORE - Plain white walls, no curtains, lack of storage, lack of personality and a mish mosh of stuff made for an uninspiring and boring room.
AFTER
We brought in color, mainly the pink and purple on the walls. I had painted the dresser yellow at Em's request and still want to add glass knobs to it. It sure adds a bright pop of color to the room. - My mom painted the little vanity and I painted and re-upholsteed the vanity stool. I hung a little mirror above the vanity and draped some tulle down each side for a little dreaminess. - The white shelf piece on the wall had a nice mirror backing until I broke it, drats!! I think I may use a piece of posterboard or display board for a new backing piece.
The bed frame was painted white, a vintage stool is now a little night stand that's holding Em's new plant. The foilage on the plant is mostly pink and is really sweet. The Tinkerbell poster had to stay and we will be adding more to the walls soon. We'll also be adding one of those drapey canopys that hang down around the bed. She will love that! The lacey curtains are ones that I had previously made for the room.
Flower hooks were added by her closet so she could hang her robe and sweaters. We also added a new 6 cube storage piece that helps house some little girl treasures. The bulletin board was spray painted white with some flowers added around the edges and is a great place for Em to tack stuff up. The closet is even all cleaned out and organized.
This was a very inexpensive and simple way to add some cute and charming art to the room. These were made using those adorable scrapbooking/ card making sets. I used a sweet kitty cat and ballerina set for Em. I painted both frames white, cut a piece of scrapbook paper to fit, attached the scrapbook set pieces to the paper and inserted into the frame. Voila - fun new wall art!
